Lou's Bakery: Reviews & Ratings
"It's Enormous ans So much of it!" Sounds erotic but it's about the Pastry at Lou's Bakery! Delicious, fresh ingredients that make the soul happy, at least it does for simple me. ;) Safe place, excellent service and care for your order. A Secret: They have the best Meat Pies, no crumbling and hearty. lol
Deducting a star solely due to the mediocre service and strange tasting pastries. I remember eating these pastries as a child in the year 2000-08 and now as an adult, I find it isn’t edible. What makes this bakery worth visiting is the sweet bread aka masa. The masa is just enough crisp on the outer crust with an inside so soft and moist you could shape it in your fist. The best in the area! What’s frustrating is the baker only makes a certain quantity every week, even though they constantly run out before closing. The bakery hasn’t evolved with time and I don’t believe they ever will.
If you haven't tried their sweet bread... you are missing out! There's a reason why people line up at 4 AM just get some of that bread during the days leading up to Easter. It's so good.
Had a craving this AM so I took the time to Fall River. Sweet Bread, Malassas and Chourico Rolls. Do worth the trip.
A friend bought me some sweet bread from Lou's after I told her I was looking for a good sweet bread since I had the best a few years ago from a local Fall River church made only around Easter. Lou's is a close second but since you can get it year round is a big plus! Sweet Bread is soft moist and slightly dense ( Not Airy and dry) makes this bread a winner!
My father had a furniture refinishing shop not far from Lou’s for many years and my fondest memory is of my mother coming into the shop after picking up Lou’s warm sweetbreads in the morning. We would tear into them like wild animals. I’ve tried them all but Lou’s is TOPS.
The reviews are right - my hobby is looking for good Portuguese sweet bread, and this place is AMAZING! Went on a Saturday at 11am and they were sold out, but the very nice lady said I could put in an order for the next day. So I did, and went at 7:45am just in case (they still had some large and 1 small left, no mediums) and it is AMAZING! On the same trip, I compared to ?Amaral's and Silver Star in providence. Lou's wins, hands down! So fresh, not at all crumbly. Will be taking a couple of rounds home, to see if it freezes well.
My family and I grew up on Lous sweet bread. We’ve tried many different sweet breads over the years but none have come even close to tasting as good as Lous does.
